All celebrity couples face divorce rumors at one point in their marriage. If anything, the surprising thing about that happening to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez was how quickly after the wedding those rumors started floating around. And what little things contributed to the narrative, including a fairly innocuous exchange on the red carpet during an Oscars afterparty.

However, Lauren Sánchez’s latest comments about her marriage make it pretty clear she and Bezos are still going strong. Sánchez told The New York Times that kids are not off the table for her and Bezos. Probably not something someone on the brink of divorce would say.

“I would have another one tomorrow. Tomorrow,” Sánchez said. “I would have a baby tomorrow.”

She was apparently so adamant about it that a spokesperson had to come out to clarify that Sanchez was not expecting a baby at this point in time.

The former journalist has three kids: a son she shares with ex-boyfriend Tony Gonzales and a son and a daughter she shares with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell. Meanwhile, Bezos has four kids with ex-wife Mackenzie Scott, three sons, and one daughter. There’s not much public information about Bezos’s kids, but both his kids and Sanchez’s are older now, so a baby would still be an adjustment.

Sánchez had previously spoken about her kids getting a chance to give speeches during her wedding, calling that “the most meaningful and impactful moment” of her wedding day. “The biggest moment was with my kids. They all got to do speeches,” she recalled. “Jeff’s kids did speeches, my kids, and one of my kids, who is dyslexic — and he lets me talk about it — went up there and talked about a moment that was extremely important to him, and I had no idea what he was going to say.”

Apparently, Sánchez’s daughter Ella, even brought her to tears, per Extra. “All of our kids gave speeches, mine and Jeff’s, and they were all so meaningful,” she told the outlet. “My daughter gave a speech during the ceremony, this was before we said our vows, and [I] started bawling. Like, I could not — I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh’ right before the pictures.”

Sánchez’s new interview comes after recent reports about her and Bezos adjusting to their new life together. Hollywood insider Rob Shuter recently reported on this new stage of the relationship, with sources saying, “Everything changed the moment they got married,” and “The honeymoon phase is over.”

And there was that moment during the Vanity Fair Oscars post-party that left people talking. Bezos and Sánchez walked the red carpet and took pictures together, with Sánchez then seemingly saying something to her husband, who walked out of the shot so she could take some solo pictures.

The internet had opinions. “Proof that money can’t buy class!” one person said. Another commenter added, “Lauren: Step away, hubby. You’re hogging my camera time,” alongside laughing emojis.

“People close to them are giving this marriage a year — max,” one insider told Shuter. “Before, it was all excitement and attention,” the source said. “Now it’s real life — and it’s not as perfect.”

Sánchez, however, seems to be thinking long-term. And that’s a pretty big sign.
