I have a bone to pick with smart watches. Love the functionality, do not love the aesthetic—especially when I’m trying to elevate my look at work or at a dressier event. Or even if I’m just trying to just, I don’t know, look like a 36-year-old woman-who-happens-to-be-a-mom who still cares about style. After years of working from home and living in athleisure, there’s been a distinct shift in 2026. I’m back at the office, and I put more time into my OOTD. One way I’ve been meaning to take it to the next level? A pretty watch.
After doing hours of research, I’m currently fixated on the Bulova Super Seville Mini. It’s a ’70s-inspired design based on the original Super Seville, but this one is sleeker and more feminine. It has the same pearl face, but the modern version has brighter dial, the band is two-toned (though you can get it in gold or silver), and the detailing is more updated (and less clunky). But it still has just the right amount of those ’70s and ’80s new money vibes.
So, Husband. If you’re reading this: I want this watch for Mother’s Day. I want a luxe watch that is historically known for its quality (a must if you have, especially if you have a feral toddler), quartz technology, and designs that give Rich Mom Aesthetic—without breaking the bank.
If you’re looking for a straight gold or silver option, those exist too—and they’re on sale.
Aside from the stunning design and functionality, “old-fashioned” watches are making a comeback. Call it “quiet luxury” or a return to analog—we’re going back in time and bringing back fashion pieces that make us feel nostalgic. For me, it’s coming from a place of AI and app defiance. Like, not everything has needs to connect to an app on my phone and serve a thousand different purposes. Sometimes, you want a watch to just be a watch.
