The Truth to Rumors Robert Irwin Allegedly Snubbed Harry & Meghan & if He Has ‘Ill Will’ Toward the Sussexes
In April 2026, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled to Australia for a brief visit focused on private business matters and charitable work. During the trip, they hoped to connect with Robert Irwin and his family, and a source even told New Idea Meghan “hugely admires” their work and “wanted to sound them out about potentially working together — or even involving her kids in any upcoming Wildlife Warrior missions one day.”
“Aligning with the Irwins’ worthy causes is something that Meghan—and Harry—could be on board with,” the source added.

But the meeting ultimately did not take place. The source said that “it just wasn’t possible,” seeing as Bindi was in the United States at the time of Harry and Meghan’s visit, and Terri and Robert were juggling their busy schedules.
They also noted that Robert and his family “meant no ill will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day, they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm.”
Robert is close friends with Prince William, and he’s also a global ambassador for the heir’s Earthshot Prize environmental award. William is also reportedly “incredibly fond of the Irwins,” with a palace insider previously telling Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop that he “sees Robert as carrying on his father Steve’s legacy, and that’s something William deeply respects.”
The zookeeper is just as full of admiration, telling People in June 2025 that William is a “kindred spirit.”
“I talk to him about animals, and like, he is on it. He knows exactly what’s going on. In most conversations I have with His Royal Highness, I learn something. I really do,” he explained. “It’s this genuine sense of passion. I love that passion. Like that’s what I seek. I seek out people that feel like kindred spirits, you know? So it’s really awesome. Really is.”
He continued, “I think Prince William is certainly creating an amazing legacy for his kids and for an entire generation to take inspiration from.”
