The royal family has distanced themselves from former Prince Andrew following his arrest, but that hasn’t stopped the scandal-plagued figure from reaching out.
In April 2026, a source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice that Andrew is allegedly pleading for a private meeting with his brother, King Charles—but Prince William is opposed to any conversations between the two.
“Andrew is refusing to tell anyone what the meeting is about,” the source said. “He won’t brief aides, he won’t loop in family—he’ll only speak directly to the King.”
The source said that the secrecy has raised some red flags for William, adding, “Willam controls the room — and Andrew isn’t getting in without answers. William has drawn a hard line. No transparency, no meeting. It’s that simple.”
Even so, Andrew reportedly has a few royal family members on his side: Princess Anne and Prince Edward. The insider revealed that “they’ve been checking in on him” and “believe he deserves to be heard.”
But the pair are also out of the loop regarding why Andrew wants to speak with Charles, “and that’s raising eyebrows.” The source claimed that Andrew “may want forgiveness,” but it’s unlikely he’ll have the opportunity to ask for it.
“There’s no path back with William in charge,” the source added. “He’s not negotiating — he’s enforcing.”
This comes after reports that William is preparing to seize more power while Charles is in the United States for an official state visit.
“He’s using the window to convene key figures privately,” another source told Naughty But Nice. “These aren’t routine briefings — they’re strategic, future-facing conversations with real weight. And none of it is designed for public consumption.”
The source noted that this isn’t about overthrowing Charles, but stepping up and taking on more responsibility: “Since the King’s diagnosis, there’s been a noticeable acceleration. William isn’t just supporting the institution anymore — he’s actively steering parts of it.”
“The King remains firmly on the throne,” the insider confirmed. “But the transition from heir to leader is no longer theoretical — it’s underway.”
